Seven happy things from my week
April is shaping up to be as mad as March for me, so posts will probably be light on the ground. I am still planning a Spain post, though! And I've been reading lots of interesting books so I will endeavour to write about them too.

1. Despite the snow last weekend (WHICH I MISSED! I CAN’T BELIEVE IT SNOWED WITHOUT ME) I know spring has officially arrived in my town. I know this because the old men are back on their seats. When we arrived late last summer we discovered that a favourite pastime for old men of the town is to sit on seats in the main street and watch people go by, and today they returned!
2. Speaking of spring, we went on a container and seed buying frenzy and now I am planning out pots and hoping for lots of lovely flowers in summer.
3. Also spring-like are the number of babies that are being born. This includes the baby my cousin just had this weekend!
4. I not only survived but enjoyed some training I did at work this week that included the scary task of having to practice a meeting with a roleplay actor and have it filmed so we could all critique it! (In case it sounds like it was just me, we did it in small groups, but it was still scary!)
5. Lots of simple but easily put off household chores were accomplished today (like clearing out empty cardboard boxes from a handy space behind the couch/under the stairs).
6. We did a super efficient shop yesterday where we ended up getting everything on our list, including some preparations for visitors in a couple of weeks.
7. Our council has announced we are all getting kitchen caddies and compost bins that they will collect every week for recycling. For someone without a garden that could use up compost, this is exciting news!

For more lists head on over to Seven Impossible Things Before Breakfast!

1. How cute! Most people watch for the birds to return from wintering in the south; you watch for the old men on benches. How ironic that one never sees old women sitting on benches because, although they are retired, they are still too busy with all the tasks of LIFE to be able to sit. How I long for a rocking chair, wearing a house dress and slippers, letting myself go and never trying to squeeze myself into a pair of jeans again. Sigh.

4. I might quibble that this shouldn't go on a list of happy things, but survival is always good.

Augh. That would be ME wearing the house dress and slippers, not the rocking chair. I could edit it but I'm sure your writer friends will find it amusing.

Well, by that stage maybe you will be dressing up the chair, who knows? :) (I never would have thought of it that way if you hadn't pointed it out!)

1. I say, go for the rocking chair and old house dress now! Life is too short to wait until you're old!

4. I enjoyed it by the end! But that might have been because I got the nice rambling character to meet with rather than the very mean one :)

wait, wait...? You wanted to see the snow. the snow was pathetic! And it was cold and depressing! Spain=much better!

1. omg. this is sooo true.

The snow was apparently nice around here, but I agree that it was still better to be on hollidays :)

I'm glad it's not just our town that heralds spring with old men :)
